Humanitarian and charitable projects

In their activities, Smart-Holding and the companies of the Group rely on the fundamental principles of the sustainable development. The Company's efforts are focused on implementing social partnership programs in the regions of its presence. We aim to create the most comfortable working conditions for our personnel, as well as to improve the living, social and cultural environment for members of the relevant communities.

A significant share of investments in the regions of our presence is made in the development of social infrastructure, which includes participation in the repair and purchase of equipment for kindergartens, schools, sports facilities, polyclinics and hospitals, cultural institutions etc.

The companies of the Group also invest in the development of certain components of the educational environment for residents of the regions. Thus, for example, in 2016 representative office of Regal Petroleum Corporation Limited acted as the general partner of the educational online service for teenagers www.e-Space.org. This project enables schoolchildren from rural areas to get remote access to educational courses.

Smart-Holding also supports charitable and humanitarian projects.

In 2008, for more efficient work in the field of charity, the International Charitable Foundation in Honour of Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God was established.

The activities of the International Charitable Foundation in Honour of Intercession of the Most Holy Mother of God are aimed at bringing up the future generation on the principles of the Christian Orthodox faith, at strengthening the institute of family and increasing the importance of family values for society, as well as at preserving the cultural and historical heritage, supporting healthcare and comprehensive development of education.

The Foundation finances charity projects in the following areas:

  • restoration of valuable cultural and historical sites
  • publication of Christian Orthodox literature
  • healthcare
  • support of large families and orphaned children.

Since the time of its establishment, the Foundation has provided charity support as part of a number of socially significant projects. They include Warm up a Child with Your Love (building of housing for large families, including those who raise orphaned children), Happy Childhood (purchase of clothes and hygiene products for children in orphanages and boarding schools), Treatment of Disseminated Sclerosis Program and many other.

Since the end of 2015, the Foundation has been financing the orphanage at Banchenskiy Holy Ascension Monastery (Chernivtsi region). Five hundred orphaned children are taken care about in this orphanage.

In 2014, the Foundation started contributing to solution of problems faced by internally displaced persons from the antiterrorist operation area. The Foundation allocated over UAH 33 million to support citizens who had to leave their homes, as well as for direct humanitarian aid to residents of cities located in the epicentre of the conflict. Within the framework of the program, the Foundation, in particular, organized transportation of citizens from such hot spots as Kramatorsk, Slaviansk, Lisichansk, Lugansk, Donetsk, Krasny Luch, etc. Thus, more than 1,400 children and adults were evacuated, who were then accommodated in sanatoriums and resorts in Donetsk, Nikolaev and Chernigov regions. The Foundation financed provision of food, clothing and basic necessities to internally displaced persons.

In 2014-2015, the Foundation provided material aid to 74 families of military men from Nikolaev and Kherson regions, who died while fulfilling their military duty in the area of the antiterrorist operation.

Since December 2016, the Foundation has been providing its targeted support as part of the Help the Heart Beat project implemented jointly with the Heart Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Thanks to the Foundation’s aid, cardiac implants for children with congenital heart diseases are purchased, as well as the medical equipment necessary for full-scale operation of the Centre.
