Smart-Holding Creates Its Own IT-Service Platform Based on Products of IBM Collaboration Solutions (ICS)

20.09.2012

Smart-Holding and IBM announce completion of the project to create the centralized platform of IT services for the holding company's enterprises on the basis of the investment group's corporate centre. The service was implemented following a series of technological and business consultations with IBM, training sessions for the technical personnel of Smart-Holding and licensing the use of ICS software in the service mode.

The project implementation ensured standardization of IT services, the required level of safety and control over the use of legal software at the holding company's enterprises in the areas of oil and gas, energy, real estate and development, shipbuilding, agribusiness, retail and industrial construction. The company's own centralized IT service will also enable the enterprises of Smart-Holding to manage their reputation risks building up the advantages of a uniform information environment for joint operations.

'Independent enterprises belonging to the holding company have different corporate traditions and different technological preferences, which ultimately complicates the data exchange process hindering the organization of joint operations and resource administration. The solutions offered by IBM Collaboration Solutions enabled the holding company's enterprises to switch to the uniform platform; now we can provide safe quality IT services to all the participants,' says Andrey Morozov, the Head of IT Department at Smart-Holding.

'Consistent implementation of the IBM solutions for the joint operations of the holding company's enterprises proves that creating a uniform information environment meeting the corporate requirements is a flexible and efficient tool for solving such important tasks as the exchange of best practices inside the large-scale organizational structure, exchange of expertise and knowledge. This is a mature project, and the holding company has gone a long way from data processing to the implementation of its own IT service platform providing services to all the holding company's enterprises,' says Penko Dinev, the General Manager of IBM in Ukraine.

Cooperation with IBM started in 2008 when the investment group's corporate centre implemented the software products of IBM Collaboration Solutions – IBM Lotus Domino, IBM Lotus Quickr and IBM Sametime – to ensure the qualitatively new level of joint data processing and protected message exchange inside the company. In 2011, Smart-Holding embarked on a mission to centralize its IT services and, taking into account the specific features of the holding company's infrastructure, experience in using the IBM solutions and availability of the in-house specialists certified by IBM Collaboration Solutions, the decision was made to introduce the company's own centralized IT service platform to provide services to all the Smart-Holding's enterprises.

The project was successfully implemented in September 2011. At present, the work is still underway to expand the range of the provided services and to reach out to all the holding company's enterprises.
