The shipbuilding holding company Smart Maritime Group (SMG) has signed a contract for the construction of the next fitted out hull of a chemical tanker for VEKA Shipbuilding WT B.V. It will be recalled that this is the fourth tanker to be built by SMG for the Dutch company. The first two vessels (the orders were completed by Kherson and Nikolaev shipyards) were floated out in the spring of 2019, and the third one is being completed at Kherson shipyard and will be ready by the end of January.
According to the contract, Kherson shipyard will manufacture the ship’s hull, will install the general shipboard piping and deck outfitting systems, and will paint the hull.
The length of the tanker is 110 meters, its beam is 13.5 meters, the hull height is 6.59 meters, the hull weight is 1,200 tons, and the cargo capacity is 5,320 tons.
The contract value will be more than EUR 2.5 million. The hull’s construction period is 10 months.
The chemical tankers are intended for transportation of petrochemical and chemical cargoes on the inland waterways of Europe.
Smart Maritime Group and VEKA Group have been cooperating for more than 10 years.
