UAH 200 million of taxes paid despite the blocked activities of Smart Holding enterprises

29.05.2025

In the first quarter of 2025, the companies that are part of the Smart Holding industrial and investment group paid almost UAH 200 million in taxes and fees to the state budget.

This is a significant contribution to supporting the country's economy during a full-scale war, especially given that most of our assets are forced to stand idle due to the systematic blocking of special production permits, and the rest due to hostilities.

Among the largest taxpayers in Smart Holding:
 • Smart Energy Group of Companies (gas production sector) – more than UAH 124 million
 • Veres agri-food group of companies – more than UAH 36 million
 • Smart Urban Group of Companies (real estate and development) - more than UAH 27 million
 • Smart Maritime Group (shipbuilding and ship repair) – UAH 2 million

For comparison, at the end of 2024, after the renewal of permits on 26.06.2024, Smart Holding Group's businesses transferred more than UAH 1.2 billion in taxes to the budgets of various levels. In total, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Group's companies have paid almost UAH 8 billion to the state and local budgets.

"The state is looking for sources to fill the budget and at the same time blocks the work of enterprises that are ready to generate these funds. Last year, we paid UAH 1.2 billion in taxes, but we could have paid twice as much. Nevertheless, Smart Holding's businesses remain true to their principles - they support employees and work for the sake of Ukraine and its citizens," said Ivan Gerasimovych, CEO of Smart Holding

Recall that one of the largest taxpayers to the state budget is the Smart Energy group, which suffered significant losses due to imperfect sanctions policy. In particular, in the Kharkiv region, companies were forced to stop working for almost 1.5 years (April 2023 – June 2024), which led to the loss of 195 million cubic meters by the state. m of gas and UAH 1.65 billion in tax revenues. Subsequently, recognizing the importance of the gas production industry for the country, state bodies decided to unblock the activities of enterprises. However, already in October 2024, new sanctions were imposed against the current beneficiaries - citizens of Cyprus, which suspended the activities of the Representative Office of Regal Petroleum Corporation Limited in the Poltava region and Prom-Energo Product LLC in the Kharkiv region. According to the company's experts, as a result of these decisions, the state will not receive 85.5 million cubic meters of gas, and the budget will not receive UAH 1.15 billion of tax revenues until the end of 2025.
